Style Standoff: Olivia Rodrigo vs Dua Lipa

Players take your positions, we are about to start the style standoff. Both Olivia Rodrigo and Dua Lipa have been pinnacle pioneers in representing Gen Z in the fashion world. With similar styles and subdued taste, these artists not only have developed as musicians but as icons. Buckle in ladies and gentlemen, the stand off is about to begin.
Olivia’s Day Look
Olivia stands stunningly in a hot purple and red two piece, paired with some staple Doc Martens, and some chunky chains. She looks divine as she is attending the premier of Billie Elish’s album Happier Than Ever. The look is clean, feminine, and trendy. Let’s see what Dua brings to the table.
Dua’s Day Look
Dua matches. Another hot pink crochet moment for all of us to induldge. She soaks in the sun comfortably in some matching fitted shorts and bra top, but let us not forget the reflective lavender shades. This one is a tough call.
Olivia’s Street Look
As Olivia struts her way to Jimmy Kimmel Live, she is caught wearing this chiche soft blue and grey plaid corset, an electric green satin midi skirt, and her Docs. The look finishes off with a heaven by Marc Jacobs, Virgin Suicides bag. Dua better watch out because this look is a relic.
Dua’s Streetwear Look
Casually parading the streets with class, Dua is seen rocking an oversized Balenciaga leather black jacket, complementary of her confident baggy red pants and white Flinstone graphic t-shirt. Dua seals the deal with her signature textured and striped red and pink bucket hat.
Olivia’s Music Video Look
In Olivia’s ‘Good 4 You’ music video, this look is encapsulated in the first couple shots of her video. Playing with juxtaposition between school girl grunge and preppy cheerleader, she enalates the screen. The blue is gentle while the bicep length leather gloves are a must.

In Dua’s Break My Heart music video she is seen working this adorable radiant and flirty purple cardigan and patin light blue mini skirt. Topped off with some gold jewellery to compliment gold details throughout the look, her class is elevated at the end with some simple black tights. This colour blocking moment has me still in a choke hold.
Olivias Award Show Look
As Olivia steps on stage to accept her MTV Moon Person award, she stills the audience with a jaw dropping frilly cotton candy blue and purple dress by Marc Jacobs . This look was custom made for her and rounded the look with a black Swarovski choker, Wolford tights and her croc boots. By far my favourite look so far.
Dua’s Award Show Look
You guessed it! Dua is wearing Versace at the Grammys. This head to toe Versace explosion of glam is so iconically Dua. She shines and glimmers as one of the best dressed celebrities at the event. Everything from the butterfly sequin detail to the pink leotard underlay embodies the effortless Dua look.
Olivia’s Met Gala Look
This year’s Met Gala, Olivia welcomed us to a daunting and darkened Yus Saint Laurent shimmer and slim black jumpsuit, incorpating funky feather accents and some hard core rocker black pumps. I feel like there is room for more, not improvement but definitely more.

In 2019, Dua took centre stage in a head to toe Versace look, obviously. This flamboyant, glamorous, electric showroom of a ball gown, drops jaws and more specifically mind. This look is giving “I am here and you better pay to look at me”. I love everything from the glittery studded corset top, paired with an over the top buckled bow detail to the matching patterned tights and down to the crystal jewelled headpiece.
