Celebrating Visibility: So.Gay Magazine Launches with Star-Studded NYC Rooftop Party

On Sunday, June 16th, Alex Hughes, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Hughes Brand Group, launched their new magazine, So.Gay, with a spectacular event at the Grayson Hotel's rooftop bar, Bar Cima. The launch party featured breathtaking views of NYC and brought together a vibrant mix of the queer community’s top influencers, including models, stylists, actors, singers, and social media creators.

Attendees enjoyed expertly crafted cocktails and wine provided by sponsors SVEDKA, Mi Campo Tequila, and La Crema Wine. Notable guests included "Pose" actor Ryan Jamaal Swain, social media creators Chris Stanley, Jae Gurley, Art Bezrukavenko, Serena Shahidi, and Nasim Lahbichi, along with designers Jesus Gutierrez and Sergio Aragon of Gay Pride Apparel.

The event also showcased several faces from So.Gay’s campaigns and editorials, such as Lucas Stowe, Max Rutcofsky, and Airik Prince. Guests had the opportunity to capture memories at a photo studio set up by Troy Hallahan, while Alizayuh handled house photography and DJ P_A_T provided an energetic soundtrack for the night.

Alex Hughes expressed his excitement about the launch, stating, “I’m so thrilled to celebrate So.Gay’s launch party with our first in-person event in partnership with Bar Cima, Svedka, Mi Campo, and La Crema. This weekend’s event brought So.Gay’s mission to life by bringing together tastemakers, creators, influencers, talent, and community members to celebrate LGBTQ+ culture – with the best venue, music, drinks, and crowd imaginable. So.Gay has had significant audience growth and cultural buzz since launch, and this is just the beginning.””

The launch of So.Gay is not just a new chapter in media, but a beacon of hope and representation for young people and the queer community. For many young LGBTQ+ individuals, seeing themselves reflected in the media can be life-changing. We can’t wait to see what more is to come for the new media brand.
