The Our Era Edit: January

A few months ago, when we were planning out content for the new year, I wanted to create a monthly column celebrating our favorite brands. And that’s what did! Each month a member of our team will try out some new products and share their thoughts. 

If you’re like me, you don’t splurge a lot on winter pieces for your closet, you find more value in buying pieces you can layer. When I came across this amazing cashmere sweater I was immediately in love. Started by siblings, Leret Leret has an amazing assortment of styles. From colorful stripes to funky a checkered print, you can easily find something that will be perfect for you and your style. I got this adorable butterfly sweater that has been an amazing edition to my closet. Not only is the sweater super cute but also very comfortable and if you know me, you know I’m all about comfort

I don’t usually wear perfume however I was immediately drawn to the cute baby pink bottle and red cap that this perfume comes in. When I got it in the mail, I was extremely excited when I found out how wonderful it smelled. Described as a “skin-smell enhancer” the Glossier You perfume is not like other perfumes ;) The slogan is “a fragrance that smells a little different on everyone” and it’s true. The perfume smells completely differently on me than it does on my mom or sisters and I love that. Definitely my go to perfume now, and the cute packaging makes it that much more enjoyable to put on in the morning. 

When I was younger, my family used to make fun of me because of how obsessed I was with phone cases. The minute I got my first phone I was collecting them. I had an entire drawer full of colorful cases that I would swap out according to the mood I was in. It’s been many years since, and my obsession has died down by a long shot but I still wanted to try out the case everyone’s been fawning over the past few years. 

I’ve seen urban sophistication cases everywhere. The brand popularized in 2018 starting with phone cases that said “Social Media Seriously Harms Your Mental Health.” Then they came out with what seems to be the hottest thing: the puffer case. Protecting the phones of your favorite celebrities, this case is both practical and chic. 

I’d describe my makeup routine as simple but cute. I hardly ever wear concealer or foundation and have naturally had some pretty clear skin. (thanks mom and dad) The only makeup I really wear is a light color eyeshadow and a little bit of highlight and maybe if I’m really feeling up to it, I’ll wear some mascara. This month, I decided to try out a brand I’ve never heard of (risky, i know) and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Flavedo and Albedo had this gorgeous champagne high glow that was absolutely to die for. I also had the pleasure of trying out their Velvet Eyeshadow in Rose Quartz. The shadow glistened in the sunlight and was exactly what I wanted. Natural, but still noticeable. I highly recommend you try out these products. 

Now onto skincare. To be completely honest, as gross as it sounds I hardly ever wash my face. I know, I know, its bad. But I’m trying to make more of a habit of taking better care of my skin. This month, I tried out the Milk Jelly Cleanser from gen z’s favorite, Glossier. loved how gentle it is and how simple the ingredients are. For moisturizer I tried out the supernatural cream from EL. I was a little nervous about trying a moisturizer since my skin is so sensitive but I was pleasantly surprised. This product is exactly what it sounds like. It’s refreshing and hydrating. The packaging was also super cute which is also a plus. 

One of my goals for the new year was to be more organized and obviously that meant getting a new wallet. Brandon Blackwood, a brooklyn born designer creates the most purses, wallets and crossbody bags. With a multiple of colors and silhouettes, Blackwood just gets it.
