Performing was always a blast for David Iacono. Growing up in New York City, David was thrown into the world of modeling and acting at a young age. Doing commercials and photoshoots, Iacono quickly realized that acting was something he was eager to do. “I remember one of my first commercials, which was for Food Network where we all dressed up as Guy Fieri.” Daivd tells us after a day of shooting at Blonde and Co Studios. 'The first non- commercial role was a movie called St Vincent starring Bill Murray and Melissa Mccarthy when I was super young.’ Since then, David has appeared in a bunch of amazing tv shows and movies.

We go on to chat about one of his more recent projects, Grand Army. The show follows Joey, a high school student who is dealing with the aftermath of being assaulted. David plays a character named Bo. “I did Grand Army when I was 16.” He says. “We filmed during the summer which was a lot of fun. I went to high school with a few of my cast members and so knowing a bunch of people on set was a lot of fun.” A few years later, after appearing in shows like The Flight Attendant, Social Distance, and more he started auditioning for the beloved Amazon Prime series, The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Based off the Jenny Han trilogy, The Summer I Turned Pretty follows 15 year old Belly Conklin. David plays one of Belly’s love interests, Cameron, nicknamed “Cam Cameron” by her family friend, Jeremiah. David and I talk about the show and his favorite parts of filming. “Jenny (author and show runner) sent the cast and I out 2 weeks early to get to know each other which was so much fun. I’m so grateful for those two weeks because I never really got that with the other shows I’ve done. It was kind of like I would get to set and as soon as I got comfortable with everyone on set I was done filming. But with this show, I was able to make some amazing friendships.” He says.
“Playing Cam was so exciting because I’ve been doing this for a while and being able to play a bigger character was so much fun.” David tells us. “When we started filming, it was seriously so much fun. We all got so close. They are the best people in the world. I never really got the college experience so they’ve become my friend group and that’s been really cool. I am so grateful for them.” The show has gained an immense amount of support. “It’s definitely been a change.” Iacono tells me. “It’s been interesting to suddenly have a bunch of people DMing me about my work.” He says. Since the show's release, David has gained an audience on social media as well as being constantly tagged in fan edits, Tiktoks and more.
David's experience is undoubtedly impressive for the 20 year old actor. When asked what he sees himself doing in 5 years he answers Promptly. “I hope I’m still acting and maybe even directing. I’d also love to try doing stand up. I have a blast with comedic roles and it would be so fun to continue doing that.” We cannot wait to see what else the universe has in store for him.
